Bodybuilding.com is celebrating 26 years of serving the fitness community. Since 1999 we’ve provided millions of gym goers, goal chasers and fitness enthusiasts with the supplements, programs, and tips they’ve needed to level up. This year, we’re proud to provide our customers with a new training app, elevated Signature™️ formulas, and the return of the industry’s most iconic brands. Here’s a lookback at some of our top memories and thank YOU for being a part of our history. 💪
1999: Founder Ryan DeLuca begins Bodybuilding.com in Boise, Idaho, marking it the first of its kind at the dawn of the internet. Ryan was just 20 years old when he started the brand, and it all began with what is now the biggest supplement in the industry- creatine. Check out our Founder’s Story with Ryan where he breaks down the origins of how BBCOM became what it is today.
2004: Bodybuilding.com surpasses 500 online articles written by coaches, trainers, and fitness journalists. This would mark the beginning of a trajectory resulting in over 10,000 article pages and online programs for the community to lean on to reach their goals. The brand would be one of the early adopters of building digital communities, especially important without a brick-and-mortar location. Today, they continue to educate users across multimedia platforms with over 13.8M users following Bodybuilding.com on social media.
2005: The first line of Bodybuilding.com’s private label supplements launched, striving to provide consumers with trusted and safe ingredients. This was the first expansion of its kind outside of its third-party distributors since being launched six years prior.
2008: Coming in at almost a decade in business, BBCOM’s explosion leads to hundreds of thousands of changed lives. They begin to host transformation challenges, often awarding winners with upwards of $100,000 cash prizes, and a trip to Boise to meet and engage with the BBCOM headquarters team. DeLuca cites these interactions as a staple in the team’s continued success and growth for the next decade and beyond.
2014: Bodybuilding.com records a record-breaking year, marking it the biggest supplement distributor in the market with incomparable global reach.
2016: The Lift Life Foundation™ begins, a charitable organization dedicated to bringing state of the art gym facilities to underserved school districts. Teams around the country gathered to demolish unsafe weight rooms to deliver state-of-the-art equipment made for students to live a healthier and stronger life.
2018: Signature™ Supplements are born, an innovate sports nutrition line equipped with protein, gainers, creatine, pre-workout, amino acids, vitamins, and more. Signature™ would go on to be the number one selling product within the BBCOM ecosystem.
2025: Signature™ ️gets an upgrade, keeping up with the industry’s demand for the removal of artificial dyes + coloring and an overall call for cleaner ingredients and sourcing standards. The brand went for a daily double and debuted its new BBCOM Fitness App, equipped with new coaches, new workouts, new features, and a seamless digital product for customers old and new. Bodybuilding.com also welcomed heavy hitters such as Cellucor, RYSE, Kaged, Quest Nutrition, Xtend, David, Bucked Up, Barebells, Alani Nu, Redcon1 and more onto the site.
A lot has happened since ‘99, and we’re looking forward to helping millions more in the next 26 years.
